Next LEBTA Board MeetingMonday 2 May (as 25 April was a public holiday).  6pm.  Agenda items to admin@lebta.com.au   The May meeting will be held on Monday 30 May.

Last LEBTA meeting was Monday 28 March.  A quick summary:  presentation from Historic Rally Association, promotional sticker, business survey, Welcome to LEBTA info pack, Seafarers Festival update, February Fishing Competition, VCEC report into Tourism, Marine Parade Toilets, Social networking breakfast presentation ….  Minutes available from admin@lebta.com.au

Next EGRBTA meeting: Wednesday 25 May at Mallacoota .  Agenda items to Tim Ellis. Minutes from previous meeting (27 April) can be made available. Last meeting discussed: Social media presentations, Business awards, i phone app for East Gippsland, individual town brochures, weak Digital signal in far east Gippsland,  new EGRBTA brochure, meeting with CEO and Mayor, signage at Genoa, Bylaws Officer for Mallacoota, mining near Omeo, ….

HISTORIC RALLY ASSOC. Rally to be held at Lakes Entrance 25-28 November.  The Rally has 100 cars from pre-1980.  Attracts approx. 2000 including drivers, officials and spectators.  This year they hope to start and finish cars in the central area of the Town.  Final location yet to be determined by Shire.  Businesses in Lakes Entrance are encourage to to provide special deals and packages for participants.  A promotional show bag to be produced and sent out. 

Social Networking Presentation: Thursday May 12. 7.30am (Breakfast).   Learn more about websites, facebook, twitter for your business.   This presentation will also be given at Omeo, Mallacoota, Orbost and Bairnsdale.  The presentation is funded by VECCI.   Please notify Paullette if attending.

Commercial tours in Parks and Reserves:  DSE are reviewing the pricing structure for commercial operators when taking participants into a national or coastal parks.  More infor www.dse.vic.gov.au

Business Survey:  Volunteers from LEBTA plan to door knock on most businesses in Lakes Entrance over the next 4 weeks with a survey form to try to identify what are the main issues the town faces and how LEBTA is preforming.  Extra volunteers are welcome. Visitor Information Centre Review:  The Shire have appointed an independant consultant to examine the use and purpose of all Visitor Information Centres in the Shire. Tim Ellis is the BTA representative on the Steering group.  LEBTA will be asked to submit comments on any VIC and individuals will be encouraged to make comment later in the year.  Further Information: John Munns or Tim Ellis.

RV (Accommodation Vehicles) Strategy:  The Shire has a “Concept Plan” for a strategy to create a RV friendly Shire.  Gary Squires from Orbost BTA is the BTA representative on the advisory group.  Deb McTighe is also a member of the advisory group;  Further information; Gary Squires, John Munns or Deb McTighe.

Aust. Tourism Accreditation Program ATAP is up and running using a new trademark (TQUAL),  Businesses wishing to be part of the program please contact Destination Gippsland.

Shire Events co-ordinator (Kay Lewis) has finished employment with the Shire. 

Lakes Entrance VIC: Officer in Charge position has been advertised.

EGRBTA are negoitating with several sponsors to run an East Gippsland Business Awards with several catagories.  Further details: Tim Ellis
