SKYSHOW: A very successful Skyshow held on NYE. Thankyou to all LEBTA members and volunteers that helped out on the night. A de-brief meeting was held last Tuesday. More information: Russell Chester. skyshow@lebta.com.au
OTHER EVENTS: Several other free events were held in Lakes Entrance over the last 3 weeks including CoastAction Holiday Program, Jazz on the Domain and Fraser island Open Day. All well supported.
AUSTRALIA DAY 26 January 2011: This year, the Lions Club will manage the event. 8am Mechanics Hall. Details: Lions Club.
LAKES ENTRANCE FISHING CONVENTION: Friday 18 & Saturday 19th February 2011. Volunteers welcome to assist. Contact: Deb McTighe.
STATE SURF LIFESAVING CARNIVAL: March 12 -14. A busy weekend planned. Further Information: Kris Corderoy.
LAKES ENTRANCE DRAFT FORESHORE MANAGEMENT PLAN: Due for public release on Monday 31 Jan. 2011. Consultation meeting on Thursday 10 Feb at Palmers Road Shire Office. Submissions close Friday 11 March 2011. Further details: EGSC Website.
RECREATIONAL BOATING STRATEGY 2011-2016: Public consultation meetings in February. Further Information: www.gcb.gov.au
VCEC Inquiry into the Tourism Industry: The Victorian Competition and Efficency Commission (VCEC) last year undertook a study of the Tourism Industry. In particular, they were looking at what local or state government rules, permits, guidelines and legislation was hindering the Tourism Industry. The deadline for submissions from Tourism Operators has been extended to 31 January 2011. More information: www.vcec.vic.gov.au
CHRISTMAS WINDOW DISPLAY: Winning window display as DJ Diner (near traffic lights). Thanks to Paullette H and Sheryl Peel for organising.
IN HOSPITAL: Adrian Jackson (Skyshow Committee) was admitted to a Melbourne Hospital last week. Allan Turnbull (AKA the Round Man with white dog called Spike) admitted to Hospital this week and in intensive care. Both men are well know as “Characters” of the town. We wish them a speedy recovery.
VIDEO FOOTAGE: A professional photographer will be in Lakes Entrance on Saturday 5th Feb to take high quality video footage. This was originally planned for Dec 2010.
