New floating jetties:  Gippsland Ports have installed a floating public jetty at Barrier Landing and an extra floating jetty at Flagstaff Jetty.

Flagstaff Management Plan:  Gippsland Ports have engaged ETHOS to prepare a management plan for the Flagstaff New Works precinct.  Further information: Gippsland Ports.

Gippsland Lakes Ecology and Management Forum:  Held last week.  200 participants and 16 presenters covering many aspects from indigenous use, history, fishing, algae, etc.  Powerpoint presentations will placed on website www.isi.vu.edu.au/events later in the month.  Contact Prof. Paul Boon Victoria University.

Japanese Kelp:  An outbreak of the invasive sea-weed has occurred at Apollo Bay harbour.  Monitoring is required to make sure this invasive sea-weed does not get a hold in Lakes Entrance harbour.  It has the ability to grow 1 metre in length every several months.  Further information: www.dpi.vic.gov.au
